Biographie de Nightwish
Nightwish est un groupe de metal symphonique formé en 1996 à Kitee, Finlande.
Le nom du groupe vient de la première chanson qu'ils ont enregistrée. Bien que le groupe soit devenu célèbre dans son pays natal dès la sortie de son premier single, The Carpenter en 1997, la renommée internationale n'a débuté qu'avec la sortie des albums Oceanborn (1998) et Wishmaster (2000).
En octobre 2005, les membres du groupe décident de se séparer de leur chanteuse Tarja Turunen qui est officiellement remplacée le 24 mai 2007 par la chanteuse suédoise d'Alyson Avenue, Anette Olzon.
Actuellement il est composé de Tuomas Holopainen (claviers/synthétiseurs), Emppu Vuorinen (guitare), Jukka Nevalainen (batterie/percussions depuis 1997), Marco Hietala (basse/chant depuis 2002)
Le premier album avec Anette, Dark Passion Play, est sorti le 28 septembre 2007.
Le 1 octobre 2012 Anette quitte Nightwish et Floor Jansen (du groupe After Forever) la remplace.
Le 15 juillet 2019, Jukka Nevalainen, qui souffrait d'insomnies occasionnelles mais sévères, annonce être rétabli mais décide de quitter définitivement sa place de batteur au sein du groupe, pour se limiter à l'activité administrative. Kai Hahto le remplace alors à temps plein.
