Le thème de la chanson se rapporte à une rumeur qui se répandait à travers la Jamaïque et selon laquelle un duppy, ou fantôme, avait été aperçu dans de nombreux endroits traversant le pays à toute allure sur un cercueil à trois roues, sur lequel se trouvaient trois corbeaux , ou buses, dont un qui pouvait parler et demandait un certain M.
