Mick Jagger: "It wasn’t written for now. It was written about being in a place which was full of life but is now bereft of life so to speak…I was just jamming on the guitar and wrote it really quickly in like 10 minutes. Keith Richards and I both had the idea that we should release it, but I said, ‘Well I’ve got to rewrite it.’ Some of it is not going to work and some of it was a bit weird and a bit too dark. So I slightly rewrote it. I didn’t have to rewrite very much, to be honest. It’s very much how I originally did it."
"Elle n'a pas été écrite pour l'occasion. Elle parlait du fait d'être dans un endroit plein de vie mais maintenant privé de vie pour ainsi dire… J'étais juste en train de jouer à la guitare et je l'ai écrite très rapidement en 10 minutes environ. Keith Richards et moi avons tous deux pensé que nous devrions la publier, mais j'ai dit: "Eh bien, je dois la réécrire." Certains passages ne fonctionneront pas et certains étaient un peu bizarres et un peu trop sombres. Je l'ai donc légèrement réécrite. Pour être honnête, je n'ai pas eu à réécrire beaucoup. C’est très bien comme je l’ai faite à l’origine."
